MUSEUM PASSES

The purpose of our Museum Pass Program is to help make museum experiences accessible to our West Hempstead patrons.  This year, we have reinstituted the Museum Lottery system for our free tickets to the NY Hall of Science in addition to the Family Pass program for the museums that have provided the Library with Passes that may be borrowed and returned, similar to a book.
Only West Hempstead Library cardholders (age 18 or older) who are in good standing may request these passes.  Residents of the district who do not presently own a library card need to apply for one in order to participate in this valuable program that offers free entry to a variety of metropolitan cultural institutions.
We are now lending the passes for three (3) days over the weekend and for two (2) days on weekdays. Come to the Reference Desk to learn more about our Museum Pass program.

E-Books and Audio-Books!

The West Hempstead Public Library is proud to be part of the Nassau Digital Doorway (NDD) service which provides online access to best-selling and classic audiobooks for your listening pleasure and to our newest offering - eBooks. EPUB eBooks are digital versions of print books that have been optimized for on-screen reading on your computer or laptop.

Download and listen to content from your home computer, transfer the digital media to your compatible MP3 player, or burn them onto a CD (when allowed by the publisher). Patrons may check out up to five titles at a time, and at the end of the seven day lending period, the downloaded media will expire from the PC and automatically be returned to the digital collection, so you never have to worry about late fees.
