Mysteries with an Amish twist

I have just finished reading the first two books in the Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo and I highly recommend them for mystery fans. The plots are original and both books were hard to put down.

In the first book, Sworn to Silence, we meet Kate Burkholder, Chief of Police in Painter's Creek, Ohio. Burkholder grew up in this Amish community but left the Amish life after a tragedy occured in her past. Now she has been put in charge of a murder investigation and must use her understanding of Amish life to bridge the gap between two cultures.

In the second book, Pray for Silence, Burkholder is investigating the horrific murder of an entire Amish family. In order to solve the murder, she must dig into the past of one of the members of the family and uncover secrets that have been very well hidden. At the same time, Burkholder is also dealing with her feelings for Agent John Tomasetti who had helped her solve her previous case.
