Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell was published on May 19, 1936 and is one of the most popular novels in American History. It is the romantic story about the Civil War from the point of view of the Confederacy. The main character, Scarlett O'Hara, is a southern belle who survives the war and establishes a successful business. The book takes place in northern Georgia and details the life and relationships of Scarlett.
Gone With the Wind was the recipient of the 1937 Pulitzer Prize and the movie received ten Academy Awards.
